Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)...

  1. Why should I choose Aunt Harriet’s Bed ‘N Biscuit to care for my pet?

Because you want the best possible care for your pet!  There is no better way than to let them become part of our family for their stay.  Pet lovers trust us because they know their pet will be treated like one of our own and we have a reputation for exceeding our customer’s expectations.

  1. What will my pet eat at Aunt Harriet’s?

We REQUIRE that you bring enough of your pet’s food to cover the entire stay.  We have found that changing food frequently results in upset tummies.  If your pet is a finicky eater we will sit with them during mealtime and even feed them by hand if necessary.  We always have available our special home cooked diet of turkey, organic brown rice and veggies.  It has never been turned down by even the pickiest eater.

  1. What if my pet gets sick?

We monitor all guests carefully throughout the day.  If there are any problems that we cannot handle, the first thing we will do is contact you to discuss it.  If we are unable to reach you and the pet needs medical attention we will take it to your vet, if possible.  If not, we will take it to our vet who is less than three miles away.  All vet visits are the financial responsibility of the owner.   We do not charge a transport fee for these situations.

  1. Do you have a veterinarian on call?

We have a vet nearby whom we work with regularly and who also takes care of our own dogs.  We will always try to use your vet if possible.  If not possible, we will take your pet to our vet.

  1. What if my pet has special needs?

We are very knowledgeable about pets with special needs.  We have owned epileptic and diabetic pets.  Our oldest dog has a heart condition and inflammatory bowel disease.  We frequently board pets that have restricted or special diets, pets that need medication, blind and/or deaf pets and older pets that need extra TLC.

  1. Can you administer my pet’s medication?

Yes, we do this regularly.  We label all medications and give them at the appropriate time.  Unlike many boarding facilities, we do not charge extra for this.

  1. Can I bring toys and bedding for my pet?

Absolutely!  Many pet owners like to bring something that the pet is familiar with—a blanket, a bed, a favorite toy etc.  If you are training your pet to sleep in a crate at night we ask that you bring a personal item such as a t-shirt that has not been washed.  It will be comforting to your pet to have your scent in their crate.

  1. I have a new puppy and need to go out of town.  At what age can I board my pet?

Your pet should be at least 4 months old and have had all their shots including rabies.

  1. Do you offer grooming services?

No, we are not able to offer grooming services.  If you want your pet professionally groomed we will be happy to arrange grooming by Patti at Patti’s Grooming, by Jeremy at K9 Klips or by Nancy and Sharon at Goin’ To the Dogs.  You will be billed for their charge as well as a $10 transport fee by us.
